The fine print
Privacy & terms
Plain language, no small print games. This is what we hold and what you agree to when you give.
It applies to every humanitarian donation made through this site. Questions about any of it can go straight to the SWSR team.
What we hold
01
What we collect
When you give, we store your name, your email address, the amount you gave, whether it was a one-off or monthly humanitarian donation, and any note you add. If you choose to give anonymously, your name is stored with the humanitarian donation but is not shown publicly.
02
Where your card details go
Card payments are handled entirely by Stripe on their secure checkout. Your card number never reaches this site or our SWSR team — we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, along with a transaction reference.
03
How we use it
We use your email to send your receipt and, if you are a monthly supporter, the information you need to manage or cancel your humanitarian donation. We do not sell or share donor data with anyone, and we do not run donor lists past other organisations.
04
How long we keep it
Humanitarian donation records are kept because charity accounts have to be auditable. You can ask us to delete your contact details at any time, and we will keep only the transaction record our accounts require.
Terms of giving
Terms of giving
Donations are voluntary and, unless we state otherwise, non-refundable once a humanitarian donation has been processed. Monthly humanitarian donations recur each month until you cancel; cancelling is immediate and you can do it at any time. Funds are spent on the food programmes described on this site.
Questions
Write to a person, not a form
A person on the SWSR team will answer. You can also ask us to delete your contact details, or to stop monthly updates at any time.
